Why is it important to stretch your body?

Stretching the upper body can help maintain the proper length of muscles (especially if you do weigh training and cardio) and to avoid chronic muscle tightness that can lead to muscle imbalances and posture problems. 

 
 
 

Upper Body Focus

 
 
 
 

Upper body/Torso stretch

Put your hands on your hips. Slowly lean to your left, then slowly lean to your right 

 
 
 

Upper body/Torso stretch

Put your hands on your hips. Slowly twist your upper body left, then slowly twist to your right 

 
 
 

Lower Body Focus

Warming up the legs

Put your hands on your hips and start bringing up your knees in place. Transitioning from left to right. 

 

Leg stretches

Extend one leg on a flat, slightly high surface. Bend forward to create an angle with your legs. Then straighten leg and reach your toes. Repeat to other side. 

 

Leg stretches

Hug one leg until you bring it up to your chest. Repeat to the other side.
