Easy at Home Workouts

 

Although the thought of watching Netflix all day while eating your favorite bag of chips sounds exciting this Summer, let's remember to remain active, healthy, and positive.

The amazing thing about exercising is that it releases endorphins that make you a happier, and overall healthier person. And the best part, it is easy as running or going for a walk around your neighborhood, dancing to your favorite songs, or even doing some yoga and pilates at home.

Here are some quick and easy yoga/pilates exercises that you can do at the comfort of your home. You can even get Netflix playing while you do these!

 
 
 

1. Cow and Press

 

Warm up your muscles

Start on your hands and knees. Arch your back and press your shoulders down and back and open your chest. Then, round your back, lower your head, and lift your stomach.

 
 
 

2. Warrior III

 

Working the legs

Stand with the feet together, and lift up the left leg with a pointed toe, putting your body weight onto the standing, right leg. Continue to lift your leg and drop the head and torso so they form a straight horizontal line from head to toe with the arms at your sides. Remain facing down and keep your back as straight as possible. Hold for 5 breaths and then slowly returning to standing. Switch legs and repeat.

 
 
 

3. Low-belly leg reach

 

Working the abdomen

Lie face up with knees bent to 90 degrees, hands behind head, and abs contracted. Keeping knees over your hips, lift shoulders and push yourself up; breathe in and hold for 3-5 seconds. Breathe out and extend legs to 45 degrees; hold for 3-5 seconds while squeezing lower belly. Do 2 sets of 10-15 reps.
